A production BOM should include reference designator, quantity per board, description, value, package or footprint, manufacturer, manufacturer part number and approved distributor part number where applicable. Add DNP status, substitution permission and notes for critical components. Avoid descriptions such as “10k resistor” without tolerance, power, package and technology when those characteristics affect function or sourcing.
